Healthy pigs are happy pigs
South Africa is hosting the 20th International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) Congress from 22 to 26 June. The first IPVS congress on the African continent will be of enormous benefit to generate solutions to the emerging pig veterinary challenges, especially those related to exotic and changing viral diseases, decreased use of antimicrobials and nutritional advances. It will take place at the International Convention Centre in Durban, a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of the city.

Dr Peter Evans, who heads the local organising committee, says: “The congress is also important to further pig veterinary science in South Africa, to encourage younger veterinarians to join the pig industry, to act as a vehicle to generate funds for research and to improve the pig industry in southern Africa.”
